HOAA playgroup party

On Tuesday December 9th we had our resident playgroup party at my old ward building. It was a lot of fun. Here are some pics:

My lovely finger food tray. It includes peanut butter sandwiches cut in holiday shapes of trees, Santa, and candy canes. The center is my new favorite from Lindsey. It is ham rolls-midget sweet pickles wrapped in cream cheese smeared ham. Yummo!!! I do not know what the deal was, but Armour was TERRIFIED of the floor in the gym. It had recently been redone and was really shiny, so I think he was afraid it was icy. Anyway. He sat on this chair and was horrified whenever I tried to get him to get down and walk to me or anything.
Ender playing on a car rug.
Still scared to death...
Kindle sitting with Ender
Tummy time
Armour ventures off his chair, gets closer to the floor, and lays on the rug to practice tummy time with sister...he freaked right after this picture when he saw Kindle's arm was off the edge...
FINALLY on the floor, just sitting still listening to story time.
Story time still
Armour and Ender decorate plates and cookies (about 10 seconds after this 2nd cookie picture, Armour stood on his chair and his fears of a slippery floor came true as the chair slipped out from under him and he fell head first on to the ground. He was fine but he was pissed that I had convinced him the floor was ok, and was again afraid. I spent a lot of this party holding him and the baby.)

Then right before a special visitor came, our baby zonked out.
I still brought Kindle to see the special visitors, Mr & Mrs Claus.
Cute, no?!
Ender with Santa
You may wonder where the picture of Armour with Santa is...well, it does not exist-he was not just afraid of the floor, but also of Santa and would not go within like 10 feet of the guy. It was nuts. At least he conquered one fear long enough to help his now awake sister open her present from Santa. Isn't he a great big brother? He is getting so big and so helpful!
As I said, Armour would not go near Santa, but he loved Mrs C, and after opening his present, he ran over and told Mrs C thank you. Then, Ender came riding over on someones bike with a plate of cookies. One of the other moms who had been cleaning up the cookie mess during Santa time said he came over to her and asked if he could make just 2 more cookies, one for Santa and one for Mrs Claus to thank them for coming and for bringing gifts. So, he did, then he rode them over to them on the bike (which was pretty funny to watch.)
Here is Ender delivering those cookies. I guess we can call him a bike messenger.
The Clauses enjoy their cookies by Ender as he looks on.
All in all we had a fun playgroup party and were so glad we went!

Solace turned Six!!!

Last Monday, December 8th, I officially became the mother of a six-year-old! On that day we had a lot of family fun and excitement to celebrate her! We love our girl, and here are some pictures of her grand adventures (well the ones after school-at school she got to do fun stuff too!)

Here she is eating her specially picked dinner of breakfast foods (her favorite):
Eggs, Bacon, & Hash browns (all with ketsup of course)...yum! She wanted birthday cookies today since she would have a cake at her party on Saturday.
Also, she tells me that chocolate chip cookies are her favorite! So this is what I did:
Happy siblings right before blowing out the candle...
About to blow out that candle (How do you like my candle BTW...)
Goofballs
Kindle (Doesn't she looks shocked?! Funny picture!)
Kindle handing Solace the gift from her (and by handing I mean eating).
Look at that happy smile!
SOOOO excited about her candy from the Griggs cousins-especially the Nerds from Jaxon! Thanks aunt Andrea, uncle Jeremy, And cousins (Jaxon, Kyara, Ender, & new baby Tomas)
Loving the card (and money) from Grandma and Grandpa!
(She said "I LOVE money-now we get to take me shopping to pick my own stuff!")
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!
BEAUTIFUL handmade card and ornament from great-aunt Robin!
Thank you so much aunt Robin!
Putting up ornament
Opening her package from XiaXia, Papou, Spence & Mel...the Lip Smackers came out first. Later you will see her wearing the outfits and purse that came as well. Very nice to have some clothes that fit! Thanks XiaXia, Papou, Melanie & Spencer!
And a big drum roll for her new guitar from great aunts Kris & Angela!
(It is actually a baritone ukulele, but she calls it her "real Hannah Montana guitar")
Thanks Kris and Angel! She is loving to learn and play!
Superstar!

Dad tuning and teaching
Trying it out...
After dinner and presents we decorated our own gingerbread house! Here is one view of it!
Kindle, like her father, can fall asleep anywhere!
And after the gingerbread we had a fashion show of her new outfits...
This is her leopard outfit (AKA her Sharpay outfit)!
Very cute (this one is her Hannah Montana one she says)

Bell Ringing

On the evening of December 6th, we spent an hour in the cold outside the local grocery store ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. Here are a few pictures:

Feeling the Love: All 12 Days of Christmas!

Well, I have done the 12 Days of Christmas for people almost every year in the past, but have never had it done for me. Well, welcome to the world of my new amazing ward (Or at least I think it is a family in our ward-I have a couple suspicions).

On December 1st we found this "partridge in a pear tree" on our porch...(It is pears) On December 2nd Some Elves left this...
"Two Turtle Doves"
(2 Dove soaps)

On December 3rd our "Three French Hens" were 3 French Breads...
(Extra Awesome as we ran out of bread minutes before they were left!)
On December 4th we were left "4 calling birds"
(One for each kid-note Ender claiming his...)

And today, December 5th we got "5 golden rings" of bagel goodness! Mmmmm...
(And it stopped me from going to get lunch!)
On December 6th, our "Sx gees a layin" left us some eggs.
(Which we cooked, making Solace's day as it is her favorite food)On December 7th we got my favorite "Seven swans a swimming" was 7 Swanson products! LOVE IT!!! (We had some awesome, creative Elves)On December 8, the "Eight Maids a Milking" are yummy milk maid candies.
I had forgotten these existed, and I LOVE them-I hope Santa brings more in my stocking! On December 9, Our "Nine Ladies Dancing" were dancing right on some homemade peanut butter cookies!!
On December 10 our "Ten Lords a Leapin" were 10 leaping frogs on some yummy cupcakes!!
On December 11, our Elves provided our "Eleven Pipers Piping" with some instruments.
And finally, on December 12, our wonderful Elves left us the best "Twelve Drummers Drumming ever...Drumsticks... The 12th day came with this note from the Elf family...this told me that the family I thought was our elves was NOT, but I also think I know who it was...
How blessed and loved do we feel? Very!

Thank you Elves-I have had a hard time feeling the Christmas spirit this year. I have sick kids, I am not going to see my family, I don't know how we can afford to decorate and get all the food and trimmings (Thank goodness the gift shopping is over thinks to Black Friday), and I have been grumpy every time I hear Christmas music. I usually LOVE that. I am grateful for the Elves that have reminded me that though we are far from home and from family, we are loved and not forgotten. I love this time of year and have been touched by this fun and very thoughtful gift of the season. Though my elves will likely never read this, thank you for thinking of us! Now I am ready-bring on the music, bring on the programs, and bring on Christmas!!!

Catchin up again-last Swim lessons

On December 6, the kids had their last swim lesson, which was actually a free family swim day. It was way too cold for Kindle, so I swam with the other 3 while Wes stayed on the side with our baby girl. Since it was just me and 3 kids, we opted for life jackets on the younger two. Here are a few pictures.

They say its your birthday...

So, today is the day I can say I have 6-year-old. That's right, Solace is celebrating her 6th birthday today. We put her hair in curlers last night to have fun curls for teh big day and this morning before we headed out to school, we took a few pictures of the 6-year-old. Here she is:
