Happy Groundhog Day!

Oh boy-6 more weeks...Wes is psyched! He wants more snow...I am not so sure...(BTW-sorry Jessica A, looks like we are losing our petition to end winter...) Also, the "click here for details" is not actually an active link...

Oh the mistakes of Motherhood...

Many of you might remember that in my "road rage" moments in Omaha, I accidently taught my son, Ender, that all other drivers are "Freakin idiots." Well, I have been very careful to not get so upset in traffic (or at least not to say too much of what I am thinking out loud). But I have been known to call other drivers jerks recently. Well, today as we drove into the Wal Mart parking lot, there was a truck parked in our way that we had to wait behind for a minute. Ender said "That is a Real JERK!" Trying to help Ender out I said "Ender, I need to tell you that not every car in our way or every car that makes mom upset is a jerk." He said "I know," (at this point my little heart relaxed a bit thinking that I had finally gotten through to him that I am not always perfect and that he should not get so upset. Then he continued...) "This guy is an IDIOT!!!"

Blogs?

OK-So, if you are reading this it must mean I know you. I am thinking that some of you that read this probably have blogs that I am unaware of. If you have a blog, and somehow it is not listed on my "blogs I like" section, it is not because I don't like you. It is because I don't realize you have a blog, or I do not know your blog address. So, please, leave me a comment and let me know what your blog address is so I can go see it and add it to my blogs I like section! Thanks!

Winter Wonderland

If you do not live in Spokane, you may not be aware that we were slammed in a huge storm this week (huge for Spokane anyway). We are expected to get more snow through Saturday. Evidently the last time the Spokane School District closed school was for a day was during a huge ice storm in 1996. Well, they cancelled school yesterday and today (this is significant to me because our preschool closes when the district closes). Church was even cancelled on Sunday! It has been crazy. We had a crazy weekend besides that, but I won't go into that. I just wanted to share the pictures I took from our house.

This is the view of our parking lot from our front door. My van is all snowy even in the carport because of the blowing snow!
The snow bunny Wes, Solace, and Ender made while Armour and I napped on Sunday. (Thanks to the neighbors for the button eyes).
Another minivan that didn't have a carport to park under...
Also just out our front door.
Looking out the side window of the house.
Looking out from the parking lot (you can see the snow bunny on the left)
The trees in the back.
Armour standing by the back sliding door (notice Solace's picture says "Armour"). I was trying to get a good comparison picture of Armour to the snow height to show just how deep it is, but it didn't work right. Trust me, it is deep!
There he is again (sans identifying picture)

Our lovely little grill on the back porch.
Out the back door.
Solace and Armour venture out (again I wanted to show how deep it was on Solace, but it is cold and icy enough that she wasn't sinking into it real far...)
Another Sol pic.
If you wondered where Ender was the whole time the others were outside...
(He loves pbskids.org and would rather play on it than do anything else right now...)
I guess its true what they say, it ain't over til it's over...

Happy Winter Spokane!

On a Serious Note: President Hinckley.

President Gordon B Hinckley
June 23, 1910-January 27, 2008

As most of you know (as most of you that read this blog share my faith or are at least familiar with it) the beloved prophet Gordon B Hinckley died this Sunday. Most everyone I have talked to was either crying their eyes out or barely containing their tears as they heard the news. I found that my reaction was quite different. My mom called me Sunday night from an airport in California to let me know that XiaXia had just called to let her know the prophet had just died (XiaXia and Papou happen to be in the prophet's home ward as a total side note.) My mom wanted to know if it was true, and if it was something I could find any info about online. It took me about 30 minutes before I could find anything, but when I did find it was true, I did not feel devastated as I expected to. Obviously, President Hinckley was a very old man, and his death was not entirely unexpected (no less of a loss to us though). I thought I might cry, I knew I would feel a loss. However, surprisingly, I found that my reaction was one of complete peace and comfort. I felt so happy for President Hinckley to be reunited with his wife and with our Heavenly Father. I thought of the warm welcome home he must be receiving, and thought that he must be so happy to be home, and probably somewhat relieved that he has done his work here (and done it well). I love President Hinckley and always will. I am saddened his death, but also greatly uplifted by his life, his example, his works and the prophetic words he has left for us!

Random thoughts and comments from a snowy day...

Random topic one: American Idol goes to Omaha!

You might be aware that I love American Idol. So, it was a bit disappointing when I learned they would be auditioning in my adopted home city of Omaha shortly after I was moving to Spokane. Tonight is the big Omaha auditions night on TV, so I am thinking about it, and feeling a bit "home" sick for Omaha. Check out these pics from American Idols site...

The Crowd outside the Qwest Center the night before Inside the next day

Emily (from my ward in Omaha) at her audition.
This just made me more homesick as I started to think of my true home state of Utah!!

And crazily enough-just to compact the homesickness, this guy went to high school with me in Utah, and here he is auditioning for Idol in Omaha...small world...
Random topic 2: What the Heath Ledger dead?!
On my honeymoon, while Wes and I watched the movie The Patriot, I made the mistake of mentioning that I thought Heath Ledger was totally hot. Wes was less than happy about that comment and to say the least has not liked Heath Ledger since then. Over the years, he has become a bit less attractive to me as his lifestyle had obviously been catching up with him. Sadly, it seems his lifestyle really caught up with him, whether it was an accidental overdose or a suicide. I am really shocked that he is dead. It happens sometimes that a famous actor at the height of his career will die (John Candy, River Phoenix, just to name a couple I remember in my lifetime). This really struck me as shocking though as he is YOUNGER than me...It is just a crazy sad story, and I really feel bad for Michelle Williams and her daughter that now will be raised without her dad. So sad...
Random Topic 3: What I am craving and missing about Omaha right now...

Kona Grill and their awesome Macadamia chicken! Mmmmmm...That is all on that.

And Lastly, Random Topic #4: What I am most disappointed in!
Yoplait Whips. Bought a bunch as they were on super sale, and found them to be disappointingly gross! Would not suggest them-in any flavor! Ew...
