Haircut

Warning: Everyone of these pictures is HORRIBLE, but I am willing to post them on the world wide web just to let you all see what a very, very big change I made...

Last Friday I was able to get a free haircut. I went in intending to get a bit of a trim and to fix up my layers. Wes taunted me before I left that I did not dare cut it short-he's right I did not dare cut it as short as he wanted. But, I went in and told her just to trim it, then after the shampoo, I sort of indecisively said that I would like to go a bit shorter like maybe shoulder length, she said are you sure, and I said OK and she just right away chopped off 7 inches in a clump and said "well, now we are committed to that much". Then she ended up taking off about 5 more inches for a grand total of a foot of hair off. If I had even thought for a second that I would cut that much off, I would have done locks for love, but sadly I did not. The before pictures were actually taken 3 months ago, so it was actually longer, but these are the only pics I could find of my long air down. So here are the terrible before and after pics:

First Ponytail

Today mommy decided that I had enough hair to try out my first ponytail. It worked and boy do I look cute! Check me out!

Love, Kindle

Quilting Bee?! Oh yeah...

Part of the reason I did not get to mommy school yesterday was that we had a quilting bee at our church to get some quilts done to send to the church to fill the warehouses for humanitarian aid. So, while we were there and the boys were running around, Armour took some pictures of mommy that he wanted posted. So, the first 2 pictures are of me (I am sitting directly behind his thumb). The 3rd pic is of him and was too cute not to post!!

Playin'

The airplane museum also had a play area where we stopped and played at the end until they booted us out so they could close. See pictures below:

Mommy School Week 1: A for Airplane

This year for school, Ender, Armour and I are doing Mommy school. Mostly Ender & I, and Armour is doing easier things that go along. I decided to teach the weeks by going letter by letter through the alphabet and choosing a theme to base all the lessons on for the week. This week we have been doing A fr Airplanes. As part of it, we took a field trip to the Strategic Air and Space museum. This is what our lesson plans for the week have been. In the future, I will post the weekly lesson plans before the week begins.

Monday: A for Airplane ABC's project.
Tuesday: Geography/PE lesson-kids were airplanes and we looked at a US map and constructed our own map on our lawn, marking locations they might want to go (home in Omaha, Spokane, SLC, Disneyland, Disneyworld, Wisconsin, Kentucky, NYC...) Then we played a game where they pretended to be airplanes flying to all those places. We also read the first chapter in a small biography of the Wright Brothers.
Wednesday: Solace had half day so we went to the museum. We first read a book at home about the different kinds of planes. When we got there we talked about the planes and we took note of the different kinds. We especially noted if each plane was a jet or a propeller plane. It was fun. We also did an art project where we drew some of the airplanes we saw. It was awesome!
Thursday: We were supposed to finish the Wright Brothers book, but we had no time yesterday and are doing that and our Friday lesson today.
Friday: Practice writing big and little A's, Finish Wright Brothers book, make and race our own paper airplanes (will probably do this part this evening when dad & Sol can do it with us-some things are just more fun with a bigger crowd.)

Here are some museum pics:

SOOO Old...AKA Cody's had a birthday...

I feel sheepish blogging about this so late, but here it is. Also you will note that I am using a very high quality shot of Cody here, but Brenden took it, and it shows Cody doing one of the things he is best at-playing with the kids (and his mother-in-law I guess). ALL the nieces and nephews love, love, LOVE their uncle Cody even though they don't get to see him that much (as we all live out of state usually).

So, all that aside, I have to say that I think I have been hesitant to blog about this particular birthday because I know that any harassment I dish out, I better be able to take when I have this very same birthday in a month. Yes, that is right folks, Cody is officially out of his 20s...ouch! I remember the day my brother-in-law Jeremy turned 30 (though it was SOO long ago that admittedly it is hard to think back that far), and I remember a lot of great harassment I thought of. Most of it stayed in my head as I didn't see Jeremy that day, but this whole new world of blogging opens up a forum to let the harassment flow...

Luckily for Cody, as my own 30th birthday looms just around the corner, I do not feel much like harassing anyone for turning 30-frankly I am not sure I am going to celebrate that birthday anyway-I am thinking I will skip it and just stay 29. I even arranged to work that night just to stop any possibility of festivities. SO, to Cody I will just say, Happy Birthday!!

Happy Belated Birthday Cody!!!

My first week of Kindergarten

Hi everybody!! This is Solace. I wanted to tell you about the first week of Kindergarten. I used this picture because it was my favorite one from the first day. I love my teacher named Mrs AD (that's what we are going to call her on the blog). In school we do lots of things, I think I cannot name all of them. I have fun, but I help others so I don't get bored. I get bored of all the things I know but I have fun anyway. I love eating at school!!! I mostly eat salad but sometimes I eat the other stuff. I tried waffles on Friday and pizza today. I have some friends but I have a hard time remembering their names. I love them and they are really nice. In Gym class I got to play with a ball. Recess is good. I love to play with a girl in my class. I learned to swing my legs and swing without getting pushed. What did you love about kindergarten? Tell me what you loved!

Love,
Solace

Excellent EASY recipe!!

OK-here is a really easy as heck recipe that Wesley made up tonight and it rocked!! Good stuff. Wes calls it

Creamy Black-eyed Chicken Pasta

1 box/bag of pasta, we used Fusilli (aka corkscrew pasta)
1 can Black Beans
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 onion, chopped & sauteed
garlic, chopped & sauteed

Basically cook pasta, saute onion and garlic, warm up beans and soup, and combine it all together. Excellent!!! (If you want to make it even easier, omit onion & garlic).

REALLY good-try it!!
