I am back on here trying to do a better job at recording our families goings on. I'm not sure how much "catching up" I can do. I will do my best, but it's been too long to get it all done. So, I thought I would start out by just giving an update on the family and on each family member!
Last I wrote on here, we had just sold our home in Omaha, Wes had passed boards and we were about to move to Scottsdale, Arizona where Wes was doing a fellowship. In June on 2012, Wes started his duel fellowship in Breast Imaging (Mammography) and Body MRI at the Mayo Clinic. We spent a FABULOUS year in Arizona (I swear I was meant to live there-I just acclimated to it so well, and loved, LOVED it).
Here is a picture of the family when we visited Tombstone last year with my parents:
And here we all are at Ender's Pinewood Derby last year in Scottsdale (He won the whole thing!!!)
While we were in Arizona, we spent a lot of time outside hiking around and just having fun. Our friends, the Ursics, (we know them from intern year in Spokane) were also in Scottsdale. Eric was doing his fellowship at Mayo with Wes and we ended up living in the same ward! It made the year so much better to already have friends there! Thanks goodness for the Ursics! I sure miss them!
Last year, since we were a mere 6 hour drive away, we also bought Disneyland annual passes for the whole family and drove down there as often as possible. Our amazing friends (from Med school and Spokane), the Dunns, lived near DL (where Jimmy was also doing a fellowship) and we were able to stay with them when we went there. It was SO FUN to get to spend time with them! We miss seeing them as well!
In June of 2013, Wes started his first "real" job in Aberdeen, WA. He's working as a radiologist and is totally done with that schooling now!! After 4 years med school, an internship year, 4 years of residency, and a year of fellowship we were SO ready to be done! YEAH! There really was a light at the end of the long schooling tunnel!
Wes is an amazing person! He starts each and every day by looking out the window and proclaiming "Today, is a BEAUTIFUL Day!" He's like the ultimate optimist! Wes loves his job and has really loved being here in Aberdeen. The BEST part of his job is the amount of time off-he gets every 3rd week off! LOVE it! He in on the Aberdeen Youth Football board, helped coach Armour's tackle football team, and was in Les Miz up at the local community college. Add to that all the kids activities he has been a busy guy! His favorite part of living here is probably the nearness to the beach. He LOVES going to the beach!
I (Beckee) am still a stay at home mom. I love being able to be here for/with the kids. Everest and I have had a lot of bonding time as all 4 older kids are now in school. We go to a weekly music class at our church, attend a monthly mom's group, and try to work out at the YMCA. We also love going for walks. I am trying to get used to the small town thing. It helps that Olympia is close, and I drive there to shop pretty often...I did decide to check back in with my creative musical theatre side this year by participating as a chorus member in Les Miz at the college with Wes and Ender.
Solace is a very grown up 11-year-old. She is SO smart! Scottsdale provided her with a lot of great opportunities in her schooling. She was a part of the HAL (High Ability Learners) program which was a daily pull out program and was so phenomenal. Through it, she was able to attend Space Camp. (Which she loved!!) She began to play the double bass as well. All in all it was a very eventful 4th grade year for her. Now she is in 5th grade here in Aberdeen. She has continued with the Bass and is also playing volleyball again. This time she tried out for and made the club volleyball team. It will not end until next week and she has learned and improved so much! She's awesome!
Before you look at Ender's picture, know he was in a musical at the college and was not allowed to cut his hair for months. So, picture one is of his shaggy hair, picture 2 is after his haircut.
Ender will be 10 on Saturday! WOW! He is also a smarty (they all are-I warn you now). He was also in the HAL program in Scottsdale. He was not old enough to go to Space Camp, but he still got to do some fun and cool stuff! Scottsdale was a bit of an adjustment for him, so I was worried about moving him to a THIRD school in 3 years when we moved here to Aberdeen, but he has THRIVED here!!! He has made friends and is the top of his class. He started tackle football right as we moved here last summer. He is SO great at defense! He liked it a lot and made so many friends. We also started him in a choir here called Poco Voce (Solace is in it as well). The director of the choir is phenomenal and she noticed him right off for his fabulous voice. Because of that, he was asked to sing "the Snowman" solo with the Grays Harbor Symphony! It was amazing. Then he auditioned for Les Miz at the college and was cast in the chorus as the youngest cast member! He's loved it here and has done a lot of fun activities and gotten to know a lot of fun people.
You may have noticed Ender got glasses this year, Army did as well!
Armour is 7 now. He will be baptized in July! (Wow time flies) He LOVED Arizona and especially loved hiking there. He was the first of our kids to hike to the top pf Camelback and did so 5 times during the year. Also in Arizona he made so many friends it was ridiculous. In particular, he met his twin (as far as just loving all the same things and getting along like no ones business) in Trey. It turned out Trey is from Puyallup, WA, not far from here. So, when we moved to Aberdeen right before Army's birthday last July, Trey surprised him and met us at Chuck E Cheese to party! He spends summers near here visiting his grandparents! It was so great! He has, of course made lots of great friends here as well (though no one will ever be Trey). Army is #TomBradysBiggestFan. He freaking loves Tome Brady, the Patriots and football in general! So, it's no surprise that Army also started Tackle Football this year. He is REALLY GREAT! He had to prove himself to his coaches but was playing QB by the end of the season (even as the youngest kid in the league). He is currently also playing basketball and will be joining his older siblings in Poco Voce in a couple weeks. He also has a great voice!
This first pic of Kindle is her with her friends at school getting an award the first month of Kindergarten for exemplifying the character trait of the month.
Kindle is a feisty, fun little lady. In Scottsdale, she took part in a preschool at the high school. She loved it, especially the art area! She is a non-stop creative genus. We have a constant mess in our house from the remains of her art projects. This year in Aberdeen she started Kindergarten and she LOVES school. It has been so fun watching her learn to read and make so many friends! She is currently playing basketball, has done a couple cheer camps and is BEGGING to cheer for the boys football teams this coming season. She never, EVER stops creating art wherever she goes and is always packed up and ready to go anywhere. Seriously, she packs bags of paper, pens, crayons, coloring books, and snacks for every activity we do. We'll run over to Walmart (super close) and when we get there she will start trying to unpack a huge activity bag from the car as we park. Maybe it's time I get her a purse?! :)
Everest just turned 3 yesterday! He is a smart guy! In Arizona, before he was even 2, he learned ALL his letters. Not just singing the song, but recognizing all of them. Kindle is to thank for that as she's the one that taught him and practiced with him over and over while the other kids were at school. Everest also got to participate in the preschool at the high school in Scottsdale! It was fantastic having 2 hours to myself a couple times a week. I hardly knew what to do with myself! He may need to start preschool here again this coming year. He has grown so much and is a funny kid! I love watching his little personality form. He has made a lot of friends here and loves to play with them at music class and at moms group!
So, that is where we are! I will try to do some other picture heavy posts about some of the happenings of the last 2ish years! Let the good times roll!
