Valentines parties...

The 3 younger kids had a Valentine's party on Wednesday, Feb 11 in their Music class. Later that day, I was in charge of Solace's class party. (They were early because Solace had school off Thursday the 12-Monday the 16th.) Planning it was a fiasco with a crazy person that I will not go into here, but in the end it worked out, and was a blast. I ended up having 4 stations and splitting the kids into groups. I will write more about what we did after you take a look at the younger kids at their music party. I just have a couple pics of them checking out their loot. Cute kids, huh?

For Solace's party, we were again combined with the other Kindergarten class like we were at the Halloween party. This time I was much more organized Aden had much more help though (mostly good help). We only had 1 hour for the party, so I wanted it to move and give everyone a chance to play and do everything. So, I split the class up in 4 groups. We did that by having each kids pick a conversation heart out of a brown paper bag and their groups were determined by what color heart they picked (without looking). Then we had 4 stations: Valentines craft, chopsticks game, Bingo, & Treats. The Valentine craft was simply letting them make a Valentine for their family (or whoever they wanted to). We had construction paper, stickers, ribbons, all kinds of fun stuff to decorate with. The Chopstick game was where the kids try to get as many conversation hearts from the desk into the bowl in a certain amount of time using only chopsticks. We rapidly found chopsticks were too hard for most kids, but luckily I had thought of that possibility and brought baby spoons for them to use. Solace's group was the only group that all used the chopsticks...all except Solace. She was the last to go and she figured out that the spoons were easier and she could get the most (which she got to keep) and win the game if she used the easier tool. Smart kid...The Bingo station was Valentines Bingo that a mom from last year made. It was great. Each kids got a Bingo and was able to pick a prize out of a generous prize bowl donated by parents. And for the treat station, I made my famous "MTC sugar cookies" and they frosted and ate them along with eating all the other treats brought for them. (Funny story to note-when I was making the cookies I told Solace "Your mom isn't the best in the world at many things, in fact she may not be the best at anything, except these cookies-these are the best sugar cookies in the world." So, evidently that morning at school before I got there she told all the teachers, students, parents and principal that these sugar cookies are the best in the world and they should all feel honored to get to try them!)
