So, I start looking for my family on the way back, we find each other at the back and go stand where we were told to. The employees go back in the employee only area and come out a few minutes later to escort all customers back there where it is the safest. We were some of the first customers in, so we ended up in the managers office where an employee gave our kids some pens and paper to draw, and I nurse Kindle, and we waited for a crazy storm that was coming right at us. It was being reported that this was not a tornado, but was in fact a severe storm with up to 90 MPH winds. So, pretty darn crazy, and we were stuck in Wal-Mart to wait it out. It came right over us and we could hear it even through the thick walls and very high ceilings.
It was a really nuts experience and as it turned out it really was a horrible, deadly, destructive storm. Many, many homes & cars had trees fall on them. Some neighborhoods were hit harder than others. We were thankful to have been spared any damage, but our backyard neighbor had a fence fall down, and there were a few trees and limbs down, but nothing like other neighborhoods. I am sure you can find pics on line of the destruction-it was nuts getting home and going around even the next day!

Oh man, I didn't even think of all the tornados that come through that area of the U.S. I hope you guys don't have to experience any damage while you're there. Glad you're safe!
Holy Cow! That is so scary! I'm glad you guys were still in Wal-Mart and not driving home or something.
Wow! I'm glad you were in a safe place and that your house was spared. Did you have problems with tornados during med school?
