Ok readers of my blog-I am asking you for help. I need some suggestions-what books should I be reading next? I find I am just reading a lot and turbo-ing through books lately, so give me some suggestions-what should I read next? I will tell you a few books I have liked to read:
Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy
The Scarlet Pimpernel
The Harry Potter books
The Twilight Series
Odd Thomas books
Wheel of Time (I am actually in the middle of it, but it takes me longer to read...)
The Very Hungry Caterpillar (We read it daily!)
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

Have you read Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy? It is one of my favorite books. If you like Return of the Native, I'm sure you'd like it.
I also suggest These is My Words. It's a great book!
My favorites: The Blue Castle, The Swiss Family Robinson, Summer of the Monkeys, The Hiding Place, Trusting Jesus, Anne of Green Gables series (so true as a mother!), The Chronicles of Prydain, Jane Austen anything (again and again), Don and Audrey Wood children's books, George's Marvelous Medicine.
Okay. I don't have a favorite. I love the English language, and have a special love for books that change the way I live. Try these. They're good for that reason.
I've also read the Odd Thomas books (though not the newest ones). I really enjoyed them. One reason I love Dean Koontz is his amazing character development. His characters really come to life through his pages and I tend to get really involved in the story. A few other Koontz books I liked were Life Expectancy, Sole Survivor, and two Frankenstein books (tnough to be honest I love most everything I read by him).
I also really like James Patterson. My favorite series of his starts with a book called "When the Wind Blows" (and is about children who can fly, don't worry it's much better than it sounds!) Total "brain candy".
I just finished reading Pope Joan, a book about the only female pope. It was a good read and definately made you think!
I also enjoyed the Book Thief: it's aimed at teenagers but is a great read. It's about a girl in nazi germany who rescues a book from a book burning (and then goes on to tell the rest of her life).
I also recently read Wicked. There's a lot of sex in it, so be warned, but apart from that, I loved it!
Man, I could go on forever! I love to read!!
I LOVE to read also and I have allowed myself this one addiction in the past year or so. I am the type who will go without sleep to read a great book!
Some great ones:
*Books of Pellinor Series (4 in all)
by Alison Groggon (begins with The Naming).
*A Summer Of Her Own
*Odds Are, You Are Going To Be Exalted. by Alonzo Gaskill
*The Host by Stephenie Meyers
*Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini (Brissinger, coming on next week, I think)
*Sabriel, Lirael, and Abhorsen by Garth Nix (3 in a series)
*Master by Tori Sorenson
*East by Edith Pattou
and SO Many Others!!
Have Fun!!!
For a while I was on a "Classics" kick and read lots of them. I love the books that Nat cited, and I would just say that in my mind, you can't go wrong with something that's classified as a "classic". (Robinson Crusoe, The Invisible Man by H.G.Wells, The (original) Sherlock Holmes stories, Alexandre Dumas, Robert Louis Stevenson, etc.) There are also more books that come after The Scarlet Pimpernell--you might want to try those. If you do happen to read anything by Wilson Rawls, be forewarned, you'll want a dog afterwards--fantastic books, though. Natalie swore she would never have a dog, and then she read his books...getting our hound was HER idea, btw...
You should read lost boys by Orson Scott Card.
I'mm currently reading "His Lost Material" by Phillip Pullman, I'll second Anne of Green Gables and throw in anything by Jane Austin ("Pride and Prejudice")... just so I don't look too much like a girl... "Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose is great and I'll throw in Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" for good measure
A few books I have really liked (in random order):
The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom,
These Is My Words by Nancy Turner,
The Work and the Glory series by Gerald Lund,
Anne of Green Gables series,
The Wedding Dress by Virginia Ellis,
The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands by Laura Schlessinger,
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas,
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom,
The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis,
Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin,
A Distant Prayer by Joseph Banks, and
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
My friend Evie says you should read The Notebook, Lady night: protector of the small, Walk Two Moons, and P.S I Love You. She says to look up the Junie B. Jones books to read to your kids.
My friend Bryte says you should read The Crucible and The Book Of Mormon. I told her you'd probably already read both of them but I am suggesting them anyway.
Aushe says you should read any books by Garth Nicks.
Even though I haven't read it I think you should read A Walk To Remember. And Now for books I have read. Read Treasure Box and Homebody both by Orson Scott Card. Also read The Problem of Pain, Miracles, Mere Christianity, The Screwtape letters, A Grief Observed, and The Great Divorce all by C.S. Lewis. And if Wes hasn't gotten you to read these books: Magic Kingdom for sale, Sold; The Black Unicorn, Wizard at Large, The Tangle Box, and Witche' Brew all by Terry Brooks. It's a series. If you haven't read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen you should. Then after reading that read An Assembly Such as This, Duty and Desire, and These Three Remain by Pamela Aiden which is Pride and Prejudice in Mr. Darcy's POV. Also read Mr. Darcy's Diary. It's really good. I also love the book The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine. She's the same lady who wrote Ella Enchanted and if you haven't read Ella Enchanted you should. You should also read Nightime is my time by Mary Higgins Clark. You know the movie The Tenth Kingdom? Well there is also a book and you should read it. Also read Stepping on the Cracks by Mary Downing Hahn. Read Jade Gree by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Have you ever read Numbe the stars by Lois Lowry? Its a good book. Also The Devils Arithmatic. Small Steps by Louis Sachar. And Thn There Were None By Agatha Christie. That book is also known as Ten Little Indians. Castaways of the Flying Dutchmen, The Angel's Command, and Voyage of Slaves are all good books by Brian Jacques. That's it for now.
